Service originated as full room experience. You can read about it’s inception here. I unexpectedly lost that space due to unforeseen circumstances. With the energy put into this piece, it needed a new life so I began the journey of building a standalone version.
Kyle Preish of San Diego design and fabrication firm, Tecture, agreed to meet with and gave me some ideas on how to approach the project. Two goals of mine after the fill room version were to design it in such a way that it could easily be setup anywhere and to hide all the wiring within the structure. Kyle recommended safety rail which ended up being the perfect solution. Tecture were planning an open house and art show in a few months from our meeting and invited me to show the project. I retreated to the garage and got to work.
That event marked the first time a large sized audience got to experience my work. The response was phenomenal and unexpected. People kept coming back to experience it again and again. This marked as major a turning point for me in my visual art career and was the catalyst that pushed me to start putting much more energy and time into it.
